I’m going to keep it brief as I’m actually sitting waiting for radiation and then headed to work.
So sorry, nothing witty from me today. 😜
Starting radiation hasn’t been too bad. It takes 10-15 minutes total- including undressing, getting situated on the table, getting “zapped” for about 3 minutes, and then sprinting to the bathroom, and then getting dressed and leaving.
Radiation is suppose to get worse as it goes on- fatigue, irritation of the skin, etc. But it hasn’t been bad so far. The worst part (for now) is having to have my bladder full. The large bladder pushes the rest of the intestines out of the way so i don’t get a ton of radiation to the intestines. Tuesday i was too full. Yesterday i wasn’t full enough. We will see how today goes- but I’ve had to pee for the past hour and I’m quite uncomfortable. Haha.
I also stated the oral chemo (xeloda) on Tuesday and i will take it during the week twice a day while doing radiation. It makes me nauseated but i have medications to help with that, so it is also tolerable. I haven’t seen any other side effects so far, so keep those prayers up!
Ok, it’s go time.
Have a good day everyone! It’s almost the weekend!
